FREE FOOD, CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS GIVEAWAY Farm Share and Hope Family and Community Services Partner to Benefit Local Communities

Hollywood, FLA – Farm Share, in conjunction with Hope Family and Community Services (HFCS), join in the first annual, “Hope Free Market: Free Community Giveaway,” on Saturday, September 15, 2018, from 8am to 12pm at Hope Church of Christ in Hollywood, Florida. This event will provide nutritious foods, clothing items and essential household goods vital to sustaining individuals and families. On the day of the event, participants will have access to healthy groceries compliments of Farm Share and new or gently used clothing. All surrounding neighborhoods and communities are welcome. According to the United States Census Bureau, poverty in HFCS’s neighboring cities of Hollywood, Hallandale, Miramar and Pembroke Pines range from 8.8% to 21.5%, affecting over 60,000 people. Farm Share and HFCS have collaborated to provide critical resources that help alleviate the socio-economic impact endured by residents of these Broward County communities such as hunger, malnutrition and a lack of necessary food and clothing. “Partnerships are the success of Farm Share,” stated Stephen R. Shelley, Farm Share’s Chief Operating Officer. “Partnerships provide the product and partnerships assist Farm Share in connecting the product to the person who needs it.” For more information about the event or volunteer opportunities, please contact Kecia Goldwire, at 305-497-2203, or visit farmshare.org and http://www.weofferhope.org/.

About Farm Share (FS) Farm Share was established in 1991, with an overarching goal to distribute food without fees of any kind to agencies such as soup kitchens, homeless shelters, food banks, churches, and more. Since its inception, we have grown to accommodate a growing hunger. Many large groups collect food donations from the public and charge a per-pound “shared maintenance fee” to your local church, soup kitchen, etc. for this food. These fees add up to hundreds of thousands (sometimes millions!) of dollars per year. If the agency cannot afford the shared maintenance fees, they do not get the food. Smaller grass-root agencies that cannot afford the shared maintenance fees get left out in the cold. Farm Share gives food to our recipient agencies without fees of any kind.
