"War Versus Hunger" by Murals Miami. Sponsored by MOLINA HEALTHCARE

The final mural is a satirical image regarding the “War Versus Hunger” that we face at Farm Share every day. The artists wanted to work on a piece that symbolized the struggle that we face every day when we get up with the ambitious attitude to fight hunger in Florida. The design depicts an angry and hateful beast that is actually a hungry stomach. The “Hangry Stomach” is trying to hold the state of Florida hostage under the foothold of food insecurity but Farm Share and our army of food gets up every day to fight hunger. No matter what the risks or the labor, we do what must be done in order to get food to those going hungry.

This mural may look cartoonish but the image is about something that is real and is a dark. The people that wok at Farm Share are food security warriors and we are very passionate about making sure that no person goes hungry and that no food goes to waste. This mural shows the passion we have for our mission at Farm Share and how we feel when we face huge challenges and we still rise to fight the war versus hunger.

The mural shows the strength that food donations from farmers and the support of the people in this fight. It also shows the strength of having people volunteering and donating what they can to our cause and how it makes a true difference. We hope this mural starts a lot of conversations about food insecurity.

This mural was sponsored by Molina Healthcare and was part of the True Grit Mural Project in Homestead, Miami. Weeks before Miami Art Week / Miami Art Basel 2021, the True Grit Mural Project brought talent together to fight hunger through art!

That's a really powerful mural. It's great to see art being used to raise awareness about such an important issue. It reminds me of how sometimes complex systems, like those dealing with food distribution, can unexpectedly enter a sprunki phase when faced with overwhelming demand or unforeseen challenges. It's inspiring to see Farm Share's dedication to fighting hunger in Florida.
