Paul Castronovo's 50/50 Draw supporting Farm Share has begun!!

Paul Castronovo, south Florida's favorite classic rock DJ has decided to start the "Paul Castronovo 50/50 Draw Supporting Farm Share" in order to fight food insecurity with us.

For years, Paul Castronovo has fought hunger and he is teaming up with Farm Share to do so in 2022. The "Paul Castronovo's 50/50 Draw" gives our donors a chance to support Farm Share, fight food insecurity and give themselves a chance to get half of all donations brought in by the draw.

As one can imagine, picking up and redistributing hundreds of millions of pounds of food a year takes fuel, labor, materials and infrastructure like warehouses and trucks. Since we do everything for free we must depend on donations of food and monetary donations in order to operate every day. The past few years have been very challenging for food banks due to skyrocketing demand for our services related to COVID-19 and now decades high inflation. At the same time, supply chain issues have made access to food difficult and monetary donations have also slowed considerably while operating costs have soared. If additional monetary sources are not found to offset the ever increasing operational costs of labor, gas, utilities, rent and truck maintenance, Farm Share will be forced to cut services at time when food insecurity is still running at record levels.

There are 4.2 million Floridians under food insecurity including 1 million children under the age of 15. The majority of these food insecure Floridians are blue collar workers such as teachers, nurses, small business owners and hospitality industry employees. Without food banks like Farm Share they will not have consistent access to life sustaining food leading to malnutrition and learning disabilities for children and lower productivity for adults.

This year, BIB 105.9’s Paul Casternovo is making helping the food insecure in Florida his mission and is helping to raise funds for Farm Share through a 50/50 raffle. Every ticket helps to raise monies that will be reinvested in infrastructure and operations to help Farm Share feed more hungry families, children, seniors and individuals throughout Florida.
