OUR IMPACT

When Florida Families Are Hungry, Farm Share Steps In

Food insecurity has surged in recent years. From 2019–2021, approximately 9.9% of Florida households struggled to put food on the table. From 2022–2024, that number jumped to 13%, which represents a 3.4% increase. This means one in ten Florida households doesn't know where their next meal will come from. Meanwhile, food waste is estimated at 30–40% of our nation's food supply, according to the US. Department of Agriculture. In Florida alone, millions of pounds of perfectly good food go to waste every year, even as our neighbors go hungry

This Isn’t Just About Poverty.

While 13% of households live below the federal poverty line, another 34% are ALICE households working families who earn above the poverty level yet still struggle to afford essentials like groceries, rent, and utilities

That means nearly half of Florida households (47%) face financial instability.

Farm Share exists to support these working families delivering fresh, nutritious food directly to their tables
