RESCUE

We partner with farmers and food vendors across Florida to recover surplus and food that might otherwise be discarded. This approach not only feeds families but also supports Florida’s agricultural economy and reduces food waste.

Our Programs

Farm Share delivers fresh food to Florida communities through year-round programs and rapid disaster response. We partner with federal agencies, community organizations, our partner agencies, and volunteers to ensure food reaches working families, seniors, homebound individuals, and even the pets who depend on them. Many of the families we serve are employed Floridians who work hard every day and still f ind it difficult to make ends meet, and Farm Share is here to help bridge that gap. Each program is designed to meet people where they are, with dignity and care. Our team also mobilizes quickly when hurricanes, floods, and emergencies strike, because working families are often among those hit hardest.

Food Desert Distributions

Farm Share is committed to addressing food deserts: communities where access to fresh, affordable, and nutritious food is limited or nonexistent.

Through targeted distribution events, we bring locally sourced food directly to underserved areas that lack access to traditional food assistance networks. These initiatives focus on rural communities and regions that don’t have established partner agencies.

USDA Programs

Farm Share is a trusted partner of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Florida Department of Agriculture (FDA) who contract Farm Share to manage The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) in 26 counties and the CSFP in 4 different counties.

TEFAP
(26 COUNTIES)

CSFP
(4 COUNTIES)

Food packages for low-income seniors, helping them stay nourished and healthy as they age.

Pet Food Program

When families struggle to afford food, pet food is often one of the f irst things they must cut from their budget. We have partnered with the ASPCA to help families not having to make this choice.

Through this partnership, we’re distributing dog and cat food in Liberty City, Miami Dade County, helping reduce stress for families and their beloved animals.

Community Policing
& Crime Prevention Distributions

Farm Share’s participation in various law enforcement sponsored food distributions: provide nutritious food, including vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables, to families in need and supports community-oriented policing by helping local law enforcement agencies in the planning and execution of direct-community distributions in the neighborhoods they serve.

Why Our Work Matters

Food waste is estimated at between 30-40 percent of the food supply, according to the US. Department of Agriculture. In the meantime, millions of Floridians struggle to afford enough to eat.

Between 2022 and 2024, 3 million people across the state were experiencing food insecurity.

This struggle doesn’t only affect those below the poverty line. About 34% of Florida households above the poverty line face hard choices about food, including working families.

At Farm Share, we exist to close this gap, rescuing fresh food before it goes to waste and getting it directly to families who need it most.
